Acts 1:6-7

Acts 1:6–7 (ESV): "6 So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority."

God doesn't hide things from us but He doesn't necessarily tell us all the details of His plan either. The reason for this is so we stay encouraged and on mission. We are to be ready at all times for His appearing for "the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know (Matt 24:50)."

One of the questions the disciples continually asked Jesus was when His Kingdom would be established. He told them no one knows, not even Him! They were so focused on knowing that Jesus had to tell them, "it's not for you to know." If they would have known that Jesus wasn't coming back for a couple of thousand years they may have become discouraged and stopped moving the Gospel forward. Thus Jesus told them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority."

That premise is still true today. We don't know when Jesus is coming but we do know that He is coming! We don't have to know exactly when He is coming but what is important is that we are doing what He has called us to do when He does come (Matt 24:46). His appearing is closer today than ever before. Are you ready to see Jesus face to face? Is your hand to the plow or have you given up on His work? Jesus said, "Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." If you are not ready, repent, then get to work for Him for He is coming soon, Amen?

Father, we thank You that You don't leave us in the dark regarding your plan. You have revealed the season of time when You will restore Your Kingdom to this earth. Help us to be ready at all times. May we not grow weary but stay focused and vigilant as we actively wait for Your Son's return we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
