2 Corinthians 4:16-18

2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (ESV): "16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

Trials are tough but they are necessary.God uses them to prepare us for eternity. He is in process of refining us for the Kingdom.Don't despise the process for although outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day.Don't lose hope!

Sometimes it's hard not to be discouraged in the middle of a trial but when we zoom out and consider the bigger picture of what God is doing in the unseen we recognize that our afflictions are light in comparison to the eternal weight of glory that awaits us.It doesn't mean they are easy or comfortable but they are necessary for refinement.Paul knew that and so he reminds us to not lose heart.God is at work!Keep that in mind.

How do you keep your eyes on the unseen when you are faced with a very real difficulty? What keeps you from losing heart when trials come? Our focus should be on eternity.Colossians 3:2 reminds us, "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth."Our gaze has everything to do with how well we will suffer through our trials. We will lose heart if we look to the seen!Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and the unseen and you will not lose heart.

Father,we thank You for refinement. Will You remind us continually that everything in this life is temporary? This too shall pass.May we keep our eyes on You through all things we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
