2 Corinthians 10:17-18
2 Corinthians 10:17–18 (ESV): "17 "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends."
The only person that we should elevate in our hearts and lives is God. No one else deserves to be exalted. Who died for you? Who comes to your rescue time and time again? If you're going to boast, boast in Jesus and Jesus alone.
Man always wants to boast about someone or something. Paul reminds us of the words of Jeremiah who said, "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 9:23-24 ESV)." God has spoken, may we walk in His Word!
Are you boasting today? If so, let it be only in the goodness of God. That He is mighty to save and can do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could hope or dream of. Don't boast about yourself or any other man. We are all broken people blessed by the grace of our God. He alone deserves all the credit for anything good that comes about in our lives, amen?
Father, we give all glory, honor, and praise to You. No one is like You and no one deserves the praise as You do. Forgive us for elevating ourselves or another sinner. You alone deserve the glory. Remind us daily of this we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
