2 Corinthians 1:9-10

2 Corinthians 1:9–10 (ESV): "9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him, we have set our hope that he will deliver us again."

Trusting God is paramount to walking faithfully. Contrary to popular belief, God promises to give us more than we can handle. He also promises that He would strengthen us through every battle. Trust God and stay calm. He's got you.

Life for the Apostle Paul was not a dull one. He was constantly aware of the battle he was in. He knew that walking faithfully might cost him his life but he was willing to pay the price for the sake of the lost. He couldn't remain in this state if he was relying on himself. God made him well aware of this by putting him in positions where there was no other answer except "but God." Thus he looked to the Lord alone for rescue and never a man.

What is your go-to source of hope in times of trial? We might all say the Lord but is that true? Do you exhaust all other avenues before resting in the capable hand of God? The quicker we learn to trust God the easier walking through the trial will be. He will never fail you! He will test you though that you might prove your faith. He is your deliverer. Look to no one else. Amen?

Father, we thank You for reminding us that You came to rescue us from our troubles. It doesn't mean we will go unharmed or unscathed but You will see us through. You have already rescued us from sin and the grave, may we trust You in our times of peril and difficulty we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
