2 Chronicles 26:21

2 Chronicles 26:21 (ESV): "21 And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the Lord. And Jotham his son was over the king's household, governing the people of the land."

Nothing good has ever come from a heart of pride. The moment you think you're something is the moment you have become nothing.Kill pride before it kills you.

After the death of Amaziah, his son Uzziah sat on the throne in Judah. He was sixteen years old when he succeeded his father. He started well doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord but things would go terribly wrong for him.He was taught by Zechariah to fear God and to seek and worship Him alone. As he did so he prospered greatly but he grew proud in his heart and became unfaithful to God and entered the Temple to burn incenses before the Lord. After being confronted by priests, Uzziah's anger burned against them and while he was standing in the sanctuary God struck him with leprosy. He lived the rest of his days separated from the Temple and his own house. Pride destroyed his life!

I wonder how it is that those in the modern church feel as though they can enter the Lord's sanctuary full of pride burning with anger against a brother or sister in Christ to no consequence.Jesus said anyone who is angry with a brother will be liable for the judgment of murder (Matt 5:23-26).Beware of your heart Christian and humble yourself in the sight of the Lord or He will do it for you.Don't forget that it's God who has made you who you are and it's pride that will destroy everything He has built up in your life. Keep yourself humble before God and man. If you haven't, repent now and begin this day giving God all the glory for every blessing in your life.Recognize that it's His hand at work through you to accomplish great things. If you do you will never face a humbling from above.

Father, we thank You for reminding us of the damaging effects of pride this day.We ask for forgiveness for thinking that we are better than we are. We are sinners saved by grace and anything good in our lives is a result of You and You alone. We give You all honor, glory, and praise today. We lift You up and exalt Your name alone in the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, amen.
