1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
1 Thessalonians 4:15–17 (ESV): "15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord."Everybody needs encouragement from time to time. The most encouraging words a Christian can hear is that Jesus is coming back soon to reunite us together with Him! What a glorious day that will be. The exciting part is it could happen today so be encouraged!
The catching away (rapture) of the church is a fable to some but it was not to the Apostle Paul who declare this to be a word from the Lord. He reminds these believers and us that Jesus will come for His Bride one day. Although this was written nearly two thousand years ago the fulfillment of this Scripture is nearer than ever before. Israel needed to become a nation again before this could be fulfilled which happened on May 14, 1948 (Isa 11:12; Ezek 37:12). The only thing left to be fulfilled is the fullness of the Gentiles coming in (Lk 21:24; Ro 11:25) meaning there is a certain number of Gentiles that will be saved and then the age of Grace (church age) will closed by Jesus calling His Bride to Himself.
There has never been a more exciting time to be alive Christian. Although no one knows the day and the hour of Christ's return we know the season (Matt 24:32-35). Israel is the key, pay attention to what is happening in Israel. At the same time make sure you are sharing your faith for the Gentiles must hear the message of salvation so a certain number would be saved. I know times are tough but we are in the last hour. Don't forsake your calling. Fulfill your ministry and be encouraged that the Lord is drawing near! He promised He would come for you and He never breaks a promise! Keep looking upward while you keep your hand to the plow. Amen?
Father, what a glorious picture we have here in the Scripture relating to a mystery that causes us to marvel. We long for the day when we are face to face with You. Let us be faithful while You tarry and fulfill the ministries You have given us to fulfill. Strengthen us with Your mighty right hand and let us walk in the Spirit in these last moments of the church age. Keep us be encouraged by these words we pray in Jesus name, amen!
