1 Samuel 18:14-16

1 Samuel 18:14–16 (ESV): "14 And David had success in all his undertakings, for the Lord was with him. 15 And when Saul saw that he had great success, he stood in fearful awe of him. 16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, for he went out and came in before them."

The greatest thing a person can have going for them is that the Lord is with them. He is what makes us successful and causes others to appreciate us. It's not so much that we are great but more so that the Lord is great. People love the Jesus in you. However, don't be surprised if some come down on you for it as well. Not everyone is enthused by what God is doing in your life. Ask David!

After he killed Goliath the people of Israel were in awe of David. They were impressed by his courage and abilities as was Saul, so he set David over an army of men and they went out and gained victory over every enemy they faced. The people began to exalt David above Saul because of this. It wasn't really David that was bringing the victory but God.This made Saul angry and he tried to kill David because he was afraid of Him knowing that God was with him!

When people exalt you be quick to tell them the secret of your success. It's the Lord who is responsible for anything good in our lives. He deserves the glory. However, understand that not everyone is in awe of the Lord in you. Some folks hate that about you. They will ridicule and tear you down because they don't like that God is with you. They fear you because of what He is doing in your life. Stand firm in the Lord and continue to let Him shine come what may. Just don't forget that it is He that should get all the credit for anything good. Amen?

Father, thank You for who You are.You are magnificent and awesome, glorious in all Your ways. Thank You for being in us and with us! May we be quick to acknowledge this before men when they singing our praises. Let us also be aware that not everyone is impressed with You so help us to remain loving and compassionate towards those who ridicule and persecute us. May the whole world see You at work in and through us we pray, that all glory can go to You in Jesus' name, amen!
