1 Corinthians 9:22b-23

1 Corinthians 9:22b–23 (ESV): "I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings."

How far are you willing to go for the Gospel? What changes would you be willing to make to open the door for the Gospel? Will you become all things to all men?

Paul was the master of offending people with the Gospel but he was also the master of being relatable to all people. He took all other excuses off the table so the Gospel could be the only thing left to offend. Most Christians offend before they ever get a chance to speak one word of the Gospel to someone. They are so concerned about their rights and ways that they don't try to identify with others. They want to preach at the lost rather than relate to them. What made Jesus so lovable by the multitudes was His ability to be relatable. He identified with people all the while never sinning and never watering down the message.

Christian, what behavior modifications can you make in the sphere of influence you have to open up the door to share the life-saving, life-transforming Good News of Jesus Christ? Hudson Taylor cut his hair and changed his dress to match that of the Chinamen. We don't have to act like we are something we are not but we do need to be flexible that if God would ask us to cut our hair or reveal our tats so we can become relatable to those He has in our path so the Gospel could go forward, that we would do it. Don't get hung up on your right to be who you are, become who God needs you to be for the sake of the Gospel. What we mustn't ever do is sin or change the message and say it was all for the Gospels sake.

Father we thank You for Your steadfast love for us. We pray that our love for You would compel us to become whatever it is we need to become that the Gospel might be preached. Fill us with wisdom and obedience even now. If there are things we can do to open up doors for the Gospel to be preached, let it be so. Remove our pride and entitlement mentality and give us a burden for the lost we pray in Jesus name, amen!
