1 Corinthians 16:7-9

1 Corinthians 16:7-9 (ESV): "7 For I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. 8 But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries."

The most important aspect of the Christian life is found in walking in the will of God. When He is allowed to lead us as He should we become the most effective for Him. However, we also become a greater target for the enemy. Never fear for greater is He who is in us than He who is in the world. Walk in His will!

God opens doors that no man can shut and He shuts doors that no man can open. When we find ourselves struggling at the door we must ask ourselves, "what is God's will for me regarding this door?" Paul walked in the will of God and that is what made Him so effective. In Ephesus, God opened a wide door for discipleship and Paul was effective in ministering because it was God's will for him. He could have missed out on being effective for Jesus if he walked in his own will. Although he faced much opposition God was with him and thus his work was not hindered.

Do you consider what God wants before you walk through a door? Most will say yes but our actions speak louder than words. If you find yourself trying to get in the door by whatever means necessary or resisting the prodding to walk through an open door you are probably outside the will of God. One of the ways we can know is by gauging our peace. God gives us perfect peace when we are in His will. Don't deceive yourself into thinking you have a better plan than God. Walk in His will and although opposition might come you will have perfect peace and you will be effective in your work for He is leading, amen?

Father, we thank You that You have the plan and all we have to do is walk in Your will. Help us to forsake our plans and surrender to Yours that we might be effective witnesses for Your honor and glory we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
