1 Corinthians 15:56-58

1 Corinthians 15:56–58 (ESV): "56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."

The greatest foe of humanity has been defeated on behalf of those who trust in Jesus. Victory over sin and death has been given to all who believe. Therefore we can share the gospel freely with no worries of the consequences for to live is Christ to die is gain (Phil 1:21).

Paul was reasoning with the Corinthian believers that the resurrection proves that Jesus was victorious over sin and death and that all who trust in Him will be raised with Him receiving victory over sin and death. Thus we ought to rise above fear and share the Gospel because it is life saving and rescuing. For the believer, death is not the worst thing that can happen but for an unbeliever it is. Their faith is sealed for all of eternity. The sting of death for them will be felt for all of eternity thus Paul says be immovable, unstoppable in regards to sharing the Gospel for eternity is at stake.

What is stopping you from sharing the Good News with those around you? Is it fear of what will happen to you? You already have a guarantee that if you die you will go to be with the Lord for all of eternity so the worst case scenario is you go to heaven. Best case scenario is you take a bunch of other people with you. We have the remedy to death, don't hold it back! Share it with everyone you can humanly possibly share it with!

Father we thank You for the resurrection of Jesus and the victory that brings to us. Will You remove our fear of humanity and replace it with a compassion for the lost. Remind us often that we are not guaranteed tomorrow and that eternity is at stake. To You be the honor and glory and power forever and ever we pray in Jesus name, amen!
