Genesis 37:5 (ESV): "5 Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more."
God has long spoken to his people through dreams. He has revealed the destiny of some through dreams. Never let the negativity of others cause you to doubt what God has revealed no matter how it comes to you.
After Joseph had received his coat of many colors by his father, which was given as a result of favoritism but was a prophetic picture of what was to come, his Heavenly Father began revealing his destiny through dreams, two specifically. God revealed to Jospeh that he was to rule over his brothers and mother and father. When he declared his dreams to his family his father rebuked him and his brothers hated him more.
Truth revealed isn't always received well. For some it will produce death. Look at John the Baptist, when he told Herod that taking his brothers wife was wrong, he was beheaded for it. Haters gonna hate Christian. That doesn't mean we stop speaking prophetic truth. In Acts 2:17-18 Peter quoting Joel 2:28 said "And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy." May we never discount messages from God no matter how they come. Consider yours dreams, is God revealing something? If so you must speak the truth and let the chips fall where they may.
Father we thank You for speaking to us in various ways. We thank You that You can use dreams to reveal prophecy to us. Let us never discount what You may be revealing to us through a dream but let us also never make more of a dream than we ought. Give us discernment through Your Spirit and let us proclaim the truth You reveal without fear we pray in Jesus name, amen.
