Genesis 15:1

Genesis 15:1 (ESV): After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great."

There are no words that can soothe the soul of a man except for Gods words. Make it your practice to get alone with Him and wait on His still, small voice.

After Abram had rescued Lot from the hand of the kings of Shinar, Ellasar, Elam, and Goiim, he passed through Salem (the original Jerusalem) and offering one tenth of all his possessions to King Melchizedek (who is possibly Jesus pre-incarnation or at the very least a picture of Jesus. His name means King of Righteousness and he was both King and Priest to God).  After these things the Lord spoke to Abram and told him to fear not. Apparently Abram walked in fear from time to time as do all of us. The Lord wanted Abram to be strengthened in his faith for greater things were yet to come. He reminded him that He is our shield and protector and that He was going to give him a son. Abram believed God and He counted it to him as righteousness.

God desires to calm our fears with reminders of His protection and promises of greater things. We are never at a dead end with God. There is always plenty of room to advance in the faith. The key is getting alone with Him and allowing Him the opportunity to speak faith building words into our hearts and minds. Make room in your life for this. You will never be disappointed carving out time to spend with the Lord.

Father we thank You for who You are. You are such a good God, a shield and strong tower to the weak and weary. We can rest in Your amazing love always. Help us to make time to be refreshed in Your presence. Let us see the value in spending one on one time with You. Help us to prioritize and protect that time and speak clearly to us as we seek You we pray in Jesus name, amen.
