Exodus 30:25-29

Exodus 30:25–29 (ESV): "25 And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. 26 With it, you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, 27 and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28 and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils and the basin and its stand. 29 You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy. Whatever touches them will become holy. 30 You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests."

Anointing in the Bible is a sign of being separated for Gods purposes. The Spirit of God is our anointing and the declaration that we are to be separate from the world as Gods holy servants.

God gave Moses a very specific formula to make for an ointment that would be used to anoint the sacred furniture and utinsels in the Holy Place as well as Aaron and the priests. It was to serve as a sign of dedication and seperation. This is a shadow of things to come for like the furniture, Jesus was anointed with a costly perfume (Jn 12:1-8) setting Him apart for God's holy purpose, namely the cross. So too are those who believe in Jesus anointed with the Spirit of God setting us apart as Gods holy vessels.

You were anointed for Gods holy purposes Christian. Set apart for His service and to be a reflection of His great love for those who are distant from God. You are the priests of this generation serving God as the holy temple. So serve Him with all your heart. Don't get distracted by the things of the world but keep yourself focused and dedicated to the Lord always.

Father, thank You for reminding us today of our holy calling. We are Your holy vessels dedicated to Your service alone. Keep our hearts and minds focused on our calling. If we have defiled ourselves let us repent and be restored today. You are worth our whole hearted dedication, so have it now we pray in Jesus name, amen!
