Exodus 12:40–42 (ESV): "40 The time that the people of Israel lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 At the end of 430 years, on that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. 42 It was a night of watching by the Lord, to bring them out of the land of Egypt; so this same night is a night of watching kept to the Lord by all the people of Israel throughout their generations."
God is the original promise keeper. Time after time He faithfully fulfills every promise made. Whatever the promise He gave, you can take it to the bank 'cause He is perfect in His promise keeping.
After losing his first born son, Pharaoh finally relented and let the people go. It was a massive exodus estimating at well over a million people. Why at this time and not before? God is fulfilling a promise given to Abraham that although his offspring would sojourn for 400 years (Gen 15:13) He would bring them into their own land. The discrepancy of 30 years is because God told Abraham that the 400 year countdown wouldn't start until Issac was mocked by Ismael (Gen 21:8-9) which happened 30 years after the original promise in Genesis 15:13. God was watching the clock and is perfect in fulfilling everything He says to a T!
We too are sojourners in this land waiting on the promise of our inheritance. Eternity is just around the corner don't lose heart. God will in His perfect timing bring you into that promise land called heaven. You don't have to doubt it. It will come to pass because He is faithful. In the mean time sojourn well for His glory. Stay the course and fight the good fight. He is watching over you and will in His time bring you home.
Father we thank You for being so good to us. You don't owe us a thing and yet time and time again You promise to bless us. May we rest in You and not allow the timing of Your fulfillment to become a discouragement. Help us to keep our eyes on the prize and our hearts in Your hand we pray in Jesus name, amen!
