2 Samuel 9:3-6

2 Samuel 9:3–6 (ESV): "3 And the king said, "Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?" Ziba said to the king, "There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet." 4 The king said to him, "Where is he?" And Ziba said to the king, "He is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar." 5 Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. 6 And Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and paid homage."

Never forget what God has done for You. He took the worst version of you and blessed you with eternity because He loves you. Let His love shine through you towards those who are currently who you once were.

David had been reigning on the throne of Israel for fifteen years and out of nowhere, his heart and mind turned to Jonathan. He wanted to know if there were any descendants of Saul left. It was common for a succeeding king to seek out his predecessor's descendants and kill them for fear of a coup. David's intentions were nothing of the sort. He wanted to bless Sauls descendants. He found a son of Jonathan still alive. He was crippled, living in a horrible place for fear of the king killing him. David sent for him, restored to him the land of his fathers and gave him a place at his table for the rest of his life and he resided in Jerusalem with David.

Don't ever forget how you got to be who you are Christian. Your rise to power and influence as prince or princesses was a result of God Almighty. Although we deserved death God had compassion and restored us and gave us a seat at His table forever through His Son Jesus. Don't forget all He has done. Don't be like the world, be compassionate like your Father in heaven. Bless, restore, offer an eternal place setting at the King's table to those who don't deserve it. That is our God and that is who He is calling us to be. Represent Him well!

Father, thank You for restoring us and giving us a seat at Your table forever. We are undeserving and yet Your compassion and love are great for us. Help us to never forget who we were and why we are so blessed. It's all a result of Your goodness and grace. Take our lives and use them to extend the same invitation we were given to those who are undeserving we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
