2 Samuel 13:20-21
2 Samuel 13:20–21 (ESV): "20 And her brother Absalom said to her, "Has Amnon your brother been with you? Now hold your peace, my sister. He is your brother; do not take this to heart." So Tamar lived, a desolate woman, in her brother Absalom's house. 21 When King David heard of all these things, he was very angry."
The world is a cold, dark place filled with treacheries and desolation. It will chew you up and spit you out without blinking an eye. If that has been your story don't give up, there's hope for redemption. God's not done with you yet!
Amnon, King David's son, was one messed up dude. He lusted over his half-sister Tamar. His buddy Jonadab told him to pretend he was sick and then request to the King that he send Tamar to him and then he could have her. Essentially he recommended that Amnon lay a trap. Not Biblical advice at all by the way. Amnon does so and ends up raping Tamar. When he was through he kicked her out of his house. He never loved her only lusted after her and then kicked her to the curb when he satisfied his lust. Tamar went and lived with her brother Absolom, Isolated and ashamed as a victim of a crime for the rest of her days. Sadly the information was brought to King David and he did nothing!
This is a picture of what the world will do to us. There is no compassion in the hearts of many. They care not for the welfare of others, only satisfying their lust. Beware, brothers and sisters. If you have been a victim of the worlds cruelty know this, it's not your fault. It's the sinfulness of man. Allow God to heal you. He's not done with you. There is a story of redemption that will be written on your behalf. Press into the Lord and follow His leading. Don't let the wicked have the last word!
Father, we thank You that You are the God of redemption. We may experience hard things in this life but they don't define us. We trust who you say we are. Heal our wounds Lord and redeem our hearts. If we have made bad choices fill us with wisdom moving forward. If we were a victim, protect us from being in the wrong place again. We look to You alone, have Your way we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
