1 Chronicles 20:6-7
1 Chronicles 20:6–7 (ESV):"6 And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from the giants. 7 And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, struck him down."
Faith is infectious! It only takes one person to stand up to the Gaint and defeat him to cause others to trust God and do the same.
After the army of Israel defeated the Ammonites, the Philistines rose up against Israel. The last time this happened the entire army of Israel was afraid to fight just one man, Goliath. It took the courage and faith of a shepherd boy to cause them to overcome. So when they faced the giants again the fear of man was gone. Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, who was one of the descendants of the giants. Elhanan the son of Jair struck down Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite. And finally, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, struck down this unnamed giant with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.
You never know what your faith will do in the heart of another who is watching you battle through life. Stand tall and trust the Lord. Your example could be a catalyst of faith for many who are living in fear. Let the Lord show Himself strong through you. God wants to use this moment in your life to strengthen and build faith in you but also in others. Rise up and fight the good fight Christian. Don't shrink back. Be like Jesus and face the battle head-on knowing God has you! You will never know how God will use your exercising of faith in the lives of others. I say we start a giant-slaying revolution, amen?
Father, we thank You for giving us faith to believe and trust in the impossible. That we ought never to fear anything on the horizontal but only You for no one else can kill the soul. May we rise up in these moments while we still have breath and become a symbol of hope to those around us. Use us for Your glory and for the good of those around us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
